Watching Lion King this past weekend I couldn’t help but see Christian allegories. l tend to do it a lot with movies and books but this one I wasn’t even trying force together it just stuck out.
Greetings friends, this is a long overdue update in my life. As most of you know, I was going on a journey of unlearning through the Gospels without any preconceived motives, ideas, or thoughts and it had been a roller-coaster ride. I’ve come to terms with two facts:
- Jesus called His followers to come and die, not acknowledge just who He is, &
- He did not give His followers options to consider, but commands to obey.
Over the last month or so I’ve been in a process of selling all of my music equipment (from pedals, to pianos, to guitars, to amps). I just sold my Fender Stratocaster and my Fender ‘72 Thinline Telecaster today. (Moment of silence everyone). :/
And last week, I sold my Fender Hot Rod Deville and Vox AC-15, so I am officially guitarless and ampless. To be completely transparent, it’s a weird and satisfying-but-at-the-same-time-depressing feeling, to let go and sell all the “things” you’ve worked years to acquire and somewhat find your identity in. But like Paul said in Philippians 3v8:
“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…”
As some of you already know, I’m in the process of raising support ($15,500) for “The World Race” which is a missions trip through 11 nations for 11 months. Leaving in July, 2012, I have the privilege to go to India, Nepal, Thailand, Challenge Asia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Latvia, & Estonia/Lithuania. My team and I will be partnering with churches to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restoration of the Father’s love to many broken people and situations. I’m absolutely thrilled to be spreading the love and good news of Christ, and I’m just as thrilled to share these experiences and stories with you. It’d mean the world to me if you would join me on my journey, (do so by clicking here).
While you’re at it, follow my friend Bliss Katherine. Her work is brilliant.
